We want to offer children, and therefore also future adults, an environment that allows them to live consciously and with self-confidence. Where they can live in connection with themselves and their environment and where they creatively deal with the challenges they encounter. A community where there is space for everyone to be themselves and to develop their own talents and passions. A person who is in connection with himself, enjoys life so much more.

With self-directed education we give children the space to develop according to their interests and talents. They learn to trust who they really are and take responsibility for their own choices. The optimum way to learn is from intrinsic motivation and creativity remains intact. This allows children to develop their full potential.

With non-violent communication, children get the space to be themselves. A good connection with yourself enables you to connect with the other. This way we work on a community where every child feels at home and where everyone’s needs are taken into account.
For this, the mentors have been trained in non-violent communication. This is a form of communication that listens to feelings and needs and searches for solutions based on that. In a conflict, we do not look for who was right, who violated a rule or who needs to be punished. We assume that everyone acts according to their needs and not because of bad will. The mentors take the time to really listen to the feelings, needs, ideas and stories of children and take this fully into account.


The fundaments of Orvita are:

  • Connection: A community that takes everyone’s needs into account.

  • Play: Play is the natural way of learning.

  • Self-direction: Children are the owners of their life and learning process.

  • Trust: Children get the space and trust to be themselves and to discover themselves and the world.

  • Democratic: All members of the community have a full and equal say and decisions are made with need based consent.

  • Agile: The community is a living organism, it evolves with the needs of the community and the environment in which it is located.

  • Holistic: Children are given the space for the development of the whole person.

  • Inclusion: Everyone is welcome, also children with a disability. The ages are mixed.

Orvita organiseert een democratische school en kampen op basis van zelfsturing en verbindende communicatie. Daarnaast kan je bij Orvita terecht voor een opleiding om kinderen en jongeren te begeleiden vanuit deze basis.

Wij willen kinderen, en dus ook toekomstige volwassenen, een omgeving bieden waardoor ze zelfbewust en met zelfvertrouwen in het leven kunnen staan. Waar ze in verbinding met zichzelf en hun omgeving leven en creatief omgaan met de uitdagingen die ze tegenkomen. Een gemeenschap waar er ruimte is voor iedereen om zichzelf te zijn en zijn eigen talenten en passies te ontplooien. Een mens die dicht bij zichzelf staat, geniet zo veel meer van het leven.

Door zelfsturing geven we de kinderen en jongeren de ruimte zich te ontwikkelen volgens hun interesses en talenten. Ze leren vertrouwen op wie ze werkelijk zijn en verantwoordelijkheid nemen voor hun eigen keuzes. De optimale manier om te leren is vanuit intrinsieke motivatie en de creativiteit blijft intact. Hierdoor kunnen kinderen hun volle potentieel ontwikkelen.

Door vanuit verbinding te communiceren krijgen kinderen en jongeren de ruimte om helemaal zichzelf te zijn. Een goede verbinding met jezelf stelt je in staat te verbinden met de ander. Zo werken we aan een gemeenschap waar ieder kind zich thuis voelt en waar met ieders behoeften maximaal rekening gehouden wordt.

Hiervoor zijn de begeleiders getraind in geweldloze communicatie. Dit is een vorm van communicatie die naar de gevoelens en behoeften luistert en op basis daarvan naar oplossingen zoekt. We zoeken in een conflict dus niet naar wie gelijk had, een regel heeft overtreden of gestraft moet worden. We gaan ervan uit dat iedereen handelt vanuit zijn behoeftes en niet uit slechte wil. De begeleiders nemen de tijd om echt te luisteren naar de gevoelens, behoeften, ideeën en verhalen van de kinderen en houden hier volop rekening mee.

De pijlers van Orvita zijn:

  • Verbinding: Een gemeenschap waar maximaal rekening gehouden wordt met ieders behoeften.

  • Spelen: Spelen is de natuurlijke manier van leren.

  • Zelfsturing: Kinderen en jongeren zijn eigenaar van hun eigen leven en leerproces.

  • Vertrouwen: Kinderen en jongeren krijgen de ruimte en het vertrouwen om helemaal zichzelf te zijn en zichzelf en de wereld te ontdekken.

  • Democratisch: Alle leden van de gemeenschap hebben een volwaardige en gelijkwaardige inspraak en beslissingen worden genomen met consent, op basis van behoeften.

  • Agile: De gemeenschap is een levend organisme, het evolueert mee met de noden van de gemeenschap en de omgeving waarin deze gevestigd is.

  • Holistisch: Kinderen en jongeren krijgen de ruimte voor de ontwikkeling van de gehele menselijke persoon.

  • Inclusief: Iedereen is welkom, ongeacht een eventuele beperking. De leeftijden zijn gemengd.
